Chipmac, the creator of Jimmie the Dog: Profile Chipmac
Could you tell something about yourself?
I have a Master of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from Marywood University. I am a designer with 12 years of experience. I am also a Program Manager/Professor of Design at Southwest Florida College.
How did you became a designer?
In high school in the early 90's I was introduced to a profession at that time called "commercial artist" and I got the bug. I went right to school for a BFA in design after graduation. I have a passion for bold design statements driven by typography, and strive for a unique design sense.
How did you came up with Jimmie the Dog?
I have a neighbor with a big eared chihuahua. His name is actually Jimmie. I've always thought he would make a great mascot. So I took an image of the breed and did some creative vectorizing and manipulation of shapes and color to create him. Behind many of the current strong brands, there is a personality of some kind. I thought PimTim could really use a personality. What better than a hyper little dog. Explains designers in a nut shell.
Do you have design-specialties?
My specialty is brand management. Development of custom brands and I manage the implementation of those brands to all media.
Which designs are you most proud of?
Any and all brands. I really enjoy creating a mark that embodies a culture, a client, an audience. And can withstand the test of time. The possibility of a design outliving you is a powerful statement.

Is there a life next to design?
I enjoy spending time with my wife and 2 boys. I have a real passion for soccer (as you call it futbol). But any sport will do. We live in a subtropic climate so I can leave outside playing golf or have some time in the pool.
How does your workspace look like?
I design on a macbook (13") for portability at my home office but at work I have an IMAC. Apple all the way.
What do you do in your freetime?
My brain is consumed in design. Wherever I am and whatever I am laying eyes on, I am always analyzing design. My wife thinks I have a problem but I just really enjoy visual communication. So I am always feeding my brain. When my brain slows down I enjoy family time.

Thanks for Jimmie and the interview and see you at PimTim!
